The information I provide is designed for businesses
who already have a web site, and for those investigating the feasibility of starting
a web site. I should tell you too that I am a big believer in the original concept
of the Internet; a place for free information and opinion.
As such I've
included links to all manner of free and, what I hope you will find are helpful
things. You'll find many links to other web sites and typically any such links

Experience
I've
been working in the computer industry for 25 years. And since 1995 I've watched
as the Internet has grown dramatically. But sadly huge numbers of people are taking
advantage of the lack of knowledge of many people new to computers. Daily I am
inundated with emails telling me I need to buy this or that, and so often the
things they are selling are available completely free of charge (if you have a
little knowledge).
A couple of examples of what I mean. There
is a type of software system called an Auto Responder. You might have heard the
term, you might not. But if you are serious about running a web site, then an
auto responder is almost essential. In simple terms an auto responder can be set
up to automatically answer emails, and also to send follow up emails. Well at
least a couple of times a week someone sends me an email telling me of the latest
and greatest auto responder that they promote and sell.
But
like millions of people I have the Windows Office system; Word, Excel and Powerpoint,
but guess what? Windows Office includes a fully functional Auto Responder. It's
called Outlook. Even Outlook Express includes an Auto Responder system (but without
the automated follow up system). But if I hadn't read the manual about how to
use the auto responder features of Outlook, I probably would have sent off the
money to buy something I already owned, but didn't know.
Another example:
E-Book author software. As with auto responders it's a hot market with hundreds
of different products fighting for market share. Well again if you have Microsoft
Word, then you have access to the most amazing free Microsoft add-on to publish
E-Books.

knowledge and empowering you so that you can make well thought choices.
